Timing

As with many other races, on the Metz Marathon you will be timed using the electronic ChampionChip system.
This system will enable you to know your exact race time, as well as your time at the 10 km , half-marathon, and 30 km point.
When you collect your bib, you will also be given a red plastic strap. The chip must be fixed to your shoelacing via the plastic strap.
The strap will be cut at the finish of the race by volunteers who will be collecting chips from all competitors.
WARNING: if the chip is fixed to your laces, you will have to undo your shoelaces at the finish before the chip can be collected. This is a waste of time and energy which you can well do without.
5 detection mats will be placed on the road: on the start line, at the 10 km, half-marathon, 30 km point and on the finish line.
Following the race, results can be consulted on the official Internet website.
You will receive a diploma a few weeks later with details of your time and classification.
Official race time :
This is the time between the race starting signal (cannon shot) and when you cross the finishing line.
Depending on your place in the starting area, you will cross the starting line several minutes after the signal. The official time does not take this loss of time into account, it is the reference time for the first runners in the event and their results.
Real race time :
This is the time between when you cross over the starting line and the finishing line. It is therefore your exact race time, and so the chip replaces your watch and informs each competitor of his/her race time regardless of time lost at the start.
A real race classification will also be indicated on your diploma.
If you quit, or do not take part, the chip must be sent back to the organisation within the two weeks following the event. Any unreturned chip will be billed 15 euros and will bring about disqualification from the event.
